solve their own problems. Consultants
should be hired to provide guidance, expertise and experience that your company
does not have. However, they should

yourself. So, the mandate of a

integrity and the ability to transfer knowledge.
Track Record:
understand how the consulting firm got started, what kind of experiences have
they had, who were their customers.
Credentials:
find out if the consulting firm is well written about in the journals,
frequently invited to speak at conferences, and if it has sustained a good track
record of results for other clients.
Integrity: ask
the consulting firm’s competition what they think about it.
Good companies are not only liked by their clients but also by their
competitors.
Know-How
Transferability: A consulting
firm’s ability to transfer knowledge is a very important aspect that each
company should consider seriously. One
should evaluate if the consulting firm gives you the tools, techniques, and
materials required to operate without it after the initial implementation.
