Why Results Matter and NOT LEAN Six Sigma, TQM, TPM and Other Buzz Words?

It is true that the one-to-one contact between a salesperson and a customer is very dynamic and fluid. It offers the least opportunity for improvement in terms of effort and probability of success. If you have a successful salesperson, the intelligent strategy is to put them in situations where they can do what they do best. Work on marketing data and strategies, inside sales and lead qualification – that will put a successful salesperson in the most advantageous position.  A successful salesperson’s time should not be wasted in a process that does not deliver what was sold.

The follow-up to a successful sales opportunity is equally critical and typically the least expensive sale. It will create the opportunity for additional sales to an already-satisfied customer and a reference for new customers.  Therefore, that process needs to be flawless.

One can think of neither a role nor function within a business that wouldn't benefit from internalizing LEAN Six Sigma.  We have never seen a process that did not have some opportunity that could be converted into a tangible business benefit in terms of voice of the customer/business/employee.  When you have even janitors asking to be part of the LEAN Six Sigma effort, then you know you are doing things RIGHT! That level of "pull" from the organization is really contagious.

Companies should not depend on the LEAN Six Sigma, TQM, TMP or other buzz titles for a result, but instead they should focus on results; that’ s the name of the game for every high quality organization.  The methodology is the proper way to approach a problem regardless of the type of industry you are in.  You get to the point where you aren't worried about if it is LEAN, TQM, Six Sigma, TPM, etc.  You are just doing the job. The companies where I have worked didn't really care what I called what I was doing, provided there was a successful result.
