The
subject product design addresses the following UNMET user needs:
- Minimize and/or eliminate
systemic toxicity by dispensing drops of about 10 microliters.
- Eliminate the potential
of the bottle's port injuring the patient's eye by a user-friendly,
economical eyepiece which is an integral part of the bottle.
- Dispense consistently
from the bottle's port one drop at the time and of specified volume,
from the first to the last drop contained in the bottle. This is
accomplished by an internal piston mechanism which controllably
dispenses microdrops one at the time when the user compresses the
sidewalls of the bottle.
- Minimize and/or eliminate
drop wicking.
- Minimize potential of
eyedropper's port and eye solution to get contaminated by minimizing
drop wicking and re-entry in the bottle.
- Easy and simple
dispensing of eyedrops by utilizing a use-friendly, ergonomic and cost
effective eyepiece (integral part to eyedropper.)

- It is extremely compact,
about half the size of the currently marketed products. Therefore,
product packaging, shipping and hospital storage, all are expected to
be direct benefits.
- It is much better to
handle and use due to its reduced weight and size.
- The medical practitioner
is able to see much easier blood through the flashback chamber upon
entry into a vein or artery.
- It is expected to have a
lower manufacturing cost. The product's price could be set and be used
for strong penetration into the market. It also could allow for higher
profit margins.
